Illinois Soccer is Safer with “Zach’s Law”

October 1, 2011

On August 2, 2011, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed “Zach’s Law” requiring all movable soccer goals manufactured and sold in the state of Illinois to be tip-resistant.  The law also requires older goals that are grandfathered-in to be tied or anchored down.

Elk Grove Soccer Club, for many years, has required all of its goals, tip-resistant or not, to be chained AND locked during and after use.  We will maintain this safe standard for the coming seasons.

We highly suggested individuals at home and away matches to double-check the goals ensuring that they are anchored.  If they are not, report them immediately to a coach, referee, board or park district member.
